Seen in Real D 3D @ Hoyts, Broadway, Australia Cinema: 6 With Barbara, Catherine, Amanda & Michelle Ticket Price: $19.00 + $1.00 for the 3D glasses. Worth it? Very pretty, but no substance.

Where the Wild Things Are

Seen @ Hoyts, Broadway, Australia Cinema: 2 Ticket Price: $10.50 Worth it? I think so. This movie is more about being a child than it is for children.

Astro Boy

Seen @ Hoyts, Broadway, Australia Cinema: 2 Ticket Price: $10.50 Worth it? Not really, the story was simplified and made too ‘nice’.

Moon

Seen @ Dendy, Opera Quays Cinema: 2 With Greg Ticket Price: $15.00 Worth it? Cheap night or on DVD.

Ponyo

Seen @ Dendy, Newtown Cinema: 4 Ticket Price: $9.50 Worth it? Absolutely!

Up

This is possibly Pixar’s best movie ever. Its a close call between this and Wall•E. These computer generated 3D movies make amazing use of the modern 3D projection systems. But even if you can’t see it in 3D, see it anyway. Defiantly a big screen ‘at the movies’ experience. Seen in Real D 3D @ Up

District 9

Seen @ Academy Twin, Paddington, Australia Ticket Price: $17 Worth it? Yes.

GI Joe

Seen @ Hoyts, Broadway, Australia Cinema: 10 Ticket Price: $17 Worth it? No. Maybe on cheap night.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

In brief: If you haven’t seen the first 5 films, or read all the books, this movie probably wont make any sense at all. Cheap night only. Seen @ Reading Cinema, Market City Ticket Price: $10

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

In brief: This is a steaming pile of robot turd! Don’t bother ever watching it, ever! SPOILER ALERT In detail: I have to congratulate director Michael Bay on taking the amazingly brave choice to really push the ‘special effect’ genre of film to new lows, and possibly in the process having created a brand new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
