Final­ly got around to pick­ing up a copy of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prej­u­dice” and would­n’t you know it, find­ing it a real­ly enjoable read.

  1. It is, isn’t it? Sur­pris­ing­ly so.
    I find it deeply, deeply sar­cas­tic. Which obvi­ous­ly, I like.

  2. Yeah, I’ve seen the recent BBC pro­duc­tion (a num­ber of times actu­al­ly) and love the char­ac­ter of Mr Ben­net, his sar­casm and lack of patience for dim wit are charm­ing.

  3. I find it hard to bring myself to watch an adap­tion of ‘Pride and Prej­u­dice’. I’ve seen the movie ‘Per­sua­sion’, but I haven’t read that. I’ve seen ‘Clue­less’ and plan on read­ing ‘Emma’. I’ve seen ‘Brid­get Jones’… But ‘Pride and Prej­u­dice’ is so lit­er­ary, I think its qual­i­ty, for me, would be lost. The open­ing two chap­ters are sure­ly the finest ever writ­ten.
