Promotion???

Okay, so yesterday the regional manager rocks in and wants to have a private word with me. I frown, he says its nothing scary. We chat. He offers me a new job, a ‘better’ job, more pay, not having to deal with the customers, not having to worry about commission targets, probably more work, more stress… and a transfer to the city store. Overall a good thing. I think. Watch this space and I’ll keep you all updated to my new life as “Storeperson”.

  1. Ah! The start of the end!!! How about if I tell you my story of the journey into stores? During December, I was feeling quite unhappy about the fact that I was heading into yet another Christmas without any sign of commission - it had in fact been 9 long months since my last commission payment… oh, not like the Right Royal Frenchy.. All hail the mighty Frenchy… Oh, sorry, distracted by the glory and fame of good Mr French. Back to my story.. Here I was, heading into Christmas with very little money.. in fact, the nice people at CAC had decided that my Christmas pay was the right time to deduct $100 for my Christmas party contributon…. I was grumpy and unhappy… this didn’t improve as we moved into January… The state manager, regional manager or whatever he decides to call himself at the time confronts me and says “Rumour has it that you are unahppy and want to leave?” Here we are, it’s all on the table so I put it out there. I explain that I am unhappy with the wage that I am on. I can’t survive on the money I am getting now and since I am not getting my target, I am not getting any comission. So, the offer was put to me… Take a holiday and when I return I will be moved into stores as I am valuable to the company (fully trained drone) and they don’t want to loose me.. (need to hire and train more drones) (skip forward a few weeks) Here I am sitting in stores. I have recieved half a day of training with the national training manager and then she was off doing her own thing around the office.. reorganising things, making room here and there, throwing out old stuff and arraning to send back broken or out of date products to suppliers (as well as writing horible emails to the company directors about my managers performance - completely unfounded, but written and sent anyhow) I get the hang of the job - the actuall ‘job’ is easy per-say…. but there is so much to do, I strugle along and mention on the odd occasion to both my manager and the state/regional manager that I believe that this job requires two people (they did ask me to be honest) and that I don’t believe that I am able to complete all tasks as outlined in the job description. (jump forward three weeks) I now find myself having ‘a little chat’ with the state/regional manager and my manager. they suggest that I am not working out in stores and I am going to be put back into sales.. Ah, but the good news!! They are going to make a position available to me at the new store… yay! Back into sales, just where I always wanted to be…….. (jump ahead 12 days or so…) another ‘chat’ has been scheduled and it goes something like this: (condenced to save time) Them: “the general feeing in the office is that you just don’t give a fuck anymore?” Me: “What would ever give you that idea?” Them: “We think that you might be better suited to another position” Me: “Yes ?” Them: “In another company” Me: “Oh…” Them: “We’re not firing you or terminating you or anything like that, but we feel that over the next month or two you should perhaps look for another job. We know that you can probably do a lot better than here at Next Byte” They went on to explain that it’s not personal or anything…..

  2. Hello All, Back Again. It has been a while since i said hello. Hmmm, hey Another Byter. i think I might know who you are…lol Sounds like you are in a familiar situations to a lot of other people in the NB circle. I agree with you, the job does need two people or at least a bit more help. After reading through what people have to say, the general thoughts are a bit mixed. From personal experience, i loved the job, i loved the people (well most of them…lol), as for the company, and the way they treated their employees…they suck…and not in the good way…haha Oh Hey Dave…don’t edit me…lol Anyways, i’ll keep readin…it keeps me informed on the NB journey… Ciao for now
