I get up at 6… and then get ready for work, i count that as work time. I go to work, work for ever, with almost no breaks at all (about 30 mins for lunch… at my desk). And then at 6 I’m still here. Add to that the amount of time I’ve spent dreaming about work lately and there really aren’t paying me enough.

You get 30 mins for lunch? Perhaps I should move stores! Sounds like a dream.
Hmm… I’ve been found out! It would be more accurate to say I ‘take’ 30 mins for lunch, 15 of which is walking up the street, doing the banking and getting my food, the other 15 is sitting at my desk, trying to shove my food down while answering the phone. Anyway, mail me… I’d love to know who this is that I’ve been found out by. 😛
Ah! But that would take all the fun out of this 😉 15 stores, 90 staff… I’m sure you can figure it out… You already know my gender, and by now you should have figured out that I don’t work at Balmain, so that’s going to cut the numbers down a little. And to make this easier, I’m not a director or a store manager.
Well… then I’ll just have to spend Monday morning having a good long look through the staff list… So lets see, I know your a guy, so that rulls out the four girls that work in the company. And yeah, I know your not at Balmain… so that rules out the other two guys I work with. Still leaves about 80 staff… this could take awhile.
I hope that you’re not going to be looking when you should be doing cleaning! I was stuck doing the loo today. Hmm.. now, that should narrow it down to about 15 people 😉
No, I was cleaning when I should have been cleaning… mostly. So I’ve narrowed the list of 117 staff down to 36, and now with your comment about cleaning the loo… i’m thinking I should cross off a few more names, but I don’t know the staff well enough to know who has been here the longest. 🙂 I aslo have a seeking feeling your not in NSW… that would drop the options down to 22.

I’ve already been looking over the list in great detail, but aside from giving me a list of names that I don’t recognise. Tracing the IP addresses from your comments hasn’t helped either 🙁

I’ve already tried the IP address, but to be of any use I would need to know which store has which address, and I don’t think I can access that info anyway. So… tell me… how did you find my blog anyway?
Each store’s ip address should contain the store number - I’m not sure what IP is showing up, but should be xxx.xxx.31.xx (31 being the store) So, I’m at Elizabeth street 🙂 How did I find your site? I was doing a google search the other day for “Next Byte”. Makes for interesting reading - to see what’s been said about the different stores on forums etc. and your site came up. Oh, and what happened to my quiz!
Actually the IP address’s that I’ve been getting have been no where near that helpful… odd… but nothing I can do about that. Anyway, now that I know which shop your in the list of possible names is down to 7 which is good i guess. I wonder if I could get hold of roster details for the store in some way… try and narrow it down further. 🙂 As for your quiz, you got a passing mark, which isn’t all that bad really… maybe we should arrange to catch up when you come up for the xmas party… 😛

Hmm, now this is getting interesting… I’ve picked up another one… now I’ll have to start my hunt all over again! Actually… scratch that… already narrowed it down to the same shop!!! Too many more find this and I may just have to edit a few entries… Me also thinks I should probably write something that is at least half positive about work… if I get some time I might.

I quit Next Byte due too shocking working conditions, long hours, crap pay etc. The good news is that I found another job in the same industry but it is strictly 9-5, has real lunch breaks, and I get $15k more per year. Rejoice, there is life after Next Byte…

They keep on pushing us to do more work and so for a return we get shit all. Its the worse work place I ever had worked for and directors are forcing some of their staff to work back to 8pm. What a joke….
$11 an hour what a joke… How can we afford to live. I can’t move out of home because I don’t have a real salary, in other words its a 1970’s salary that most of us are on. No Saturdays pay and I hate those Training we have to do on saturdays for the customer. FOR NO PAY. Its against the law. DO SOMETHING>>>
I was getting $26k at Next Byte and now I am getting $51k a year. And I have a future to go in my career not like at Next Byte you do. Same pay for the rest of your life. How sad is that.
Directors own like over $400k a year that goes to each of them. Our bullshit so called no nothing national service manager makes $100k a year and his wife also gets paid by Next Byte which she has nothing to do with the company. Lots of doggie shit going around at evil Next Byte.
I recently started at Next Byte. At the start I found pretty good to work there until my first pay come in. Man I was in a real shock to find out I’m on only $8.50 an hour. For 24 year old its crap salary. Also never got to sign you even see my job. contract
Adam told us sales people we should be working at least 10 hours a day so that makes it 50 hours a week with no overtime pay. Where the fuck is this coming from. Is he brain dead or what… 80% of bytee hate the company and don’t enjoy being there how come there have so many staff changes huh tell me why!!! Because its a shit work place to work for. I rather work in a factory and get paid around $18 an hour.
Dude you get 30 mins of lunch very nice. Us over here get only 15 mins lunch. We work like 10 to 11 hours a day for that shit hole.
Well, this is odd, 5 different people all posting on comments on the same day! And nothing much I’d disagree with either.
The pay is terrible yes. My store is awesome though. Love the people I work with, were it not for them I would have found another job ages ago. At this point though, the complete lack of funds is forcing me to look towards study again to get myself a real job. Which can’t be a bad thing. I hate the nothing said in warning bullshit “I’m the director of a company!” emails we get about the latest thing to get up said directors nose… If you can manage to avoid them though then aside from the slave labour side of things it can be good. I guess we all have reasons why we stay.

Fired? I suppose they could. Then again I could send them an invoice @ $150 per hour (my corporate consulting rate) for identifying problems in the company and suggesting ways they could fix it all. I’m only half worried, after all most of the most critical stuff posted on here about them was not posted by me, and I have no idea who any of you guys are, so there would be no point in them asking me that either.
The word is spreading, im another Next Byte slave! Yes the pay is shit and i was earning heaps more at my previous job, but i would prefer to be at Next Byte than on the dole. I dont agree with Michael who wrote “Our bullshit so called no nothing national service manager” Because he does know heaps and is a good bloke, he has helped me on a number of occations. Obviously Michael you have pissed him off and he dont like being pissed off. I suspect i am from the same store as ‘Another One’ because my store is an awesome place, we all get on and have a great time, if this was not the case i too would no longer be at the company. yeah I would say you are from my store Guess What. I would agree with you in saying that it’s better than the Dole. And I would agree with you about the service manager but judging on your comments you have an added insight as do I. He is a good bloke you just have to never be in oposition to what he says and he is great. I just think it’s sad that we all have to be in this situation. I hear time and time again “no wonder they went broke!” from the directors with regard to the “oposition” and the thing I think to myself is “maybe they paid their staff correctly!” The joke is that we all are given a direct link to what we are making for the company per month… it’s up around the million dollar mark collectively… even the casuals earn more in GP than what goes into my pocket. I could go on for hours! but I won’t… probably for the rest of the year and then I will go vent my frustrations on the education system. That kind of venting could enter in to the area of politics and that could get ugly! Peace out and GO BYTEES!
