For those that haven’t had to put up with me showing off my iPod, I’ve got a 20GB iPod, I’ve named him Epoch. He holds a hell of a lot of music for me (about 3000 tracks, or a shade over 8 days of constant music). He also carries around a bunch of other stuff for me, documents and the like.
Just recently I’ve gone and taught him a new trick, how to read an XML feed… so now I can (and do) read all my fav blogs while catching a bus or train.
Bit odd, but it works for me.

Meta update details about the blog itself.
recommence transmission…
Well I am still around, finally managed to fix a technical problem that was preventing me from logging into my blog software. The tech guys at my webhost pulled out a module that I was using, but I asked them nice so they put it back in.
See ya’s all in about a month
Well, now just two hours before leaving for the airport, then its off to Hong Kong for a day and then on to London. Strangely not feeling all the excitment one might expect.
I had meant to update the layout of this blog before going… I had meant to publish my itinerary, maybe a map showing where I was at… but other things got in the way.
However I think I’ve taken care of all the big stuff, so for the next four weeks I’ve just got to worry about having a good time 🙂
Same old blog, new address
So you found my blog again. Good for you. Not that it was that well hidden or anything, but still you bothered and that counts for a hell of a lot in my book.
I’m desiging a new site and once I’ve finished that this place will get a new lick of paint, till then it can stay in its out of the box design (which isn’t actually that bad, kudos to the guys that make MovableType)

This will be the last entry on this site. News on where you can read the exciting adventures of Dave and his friends will published soon.
Resent searchs
Some search topics that are putting my little page on the first result page of google:
“forget to zip up pants”
“bored out of my brain”
“mozarts 3rd”
“food poisoning from carrots”
Crystallisation
Last night as I was drifting off to sleep I remember thinking ‘That’ll make a great article for my weblog.’ Wish I could remember what the idea was…
Anyway, I’m working on some behind the scene things. Currently this is mostly new CSS work, and it is comming together slowly. When I’m done this page your reading will be result of one html file and three (3) css files.
Why three?
This is where the power of the cascade comes in.
The first file will be the layout, basically things like ‘the links bar goes on the left, the page header goes at the top, font face and size’.
The second file will be the color for all the elements, ‘purple hilight, grey background, bright yellow links’.
The third file will be the stuff that is perculiar to the blog mark.
Once all this is done every page on my site can fit within the same layout, but have different color scheems depending on the section… sounds good in theory, getting it to work just takes time to make sure I’ve put everything in the right place.
House Keeping
Well, I’ve spent a few hours tidying up a bit, adding in some new graphics square thingys, updating all the cgi’s that I use. Maybe sometime soon I’ll take the time to tighten up the layout.
One year on and still no idea what I’m doing.
A year ago the first entry was posted on this blog… well the first public entry, the first entry that is still there. (The actual first entry was posted near the end of June 2001)
Anyway, 206 entries, 192 comments and 453 bad decisions later I find that the comments made in that first entry are still true. Worse, some (most) of the projects I was talking about back then still haven’t happened, and I’ve added to the list (and since then lost the list).
But the blog, good or bad, is here, has some stuff in it, some of which I’m even proud about. And I’m not one to be proud of myself very often (embarrassed or ashamed all the time, but not proud).
This funny little blog is still an experiment, nothing more than doodles on a blackboard, but that was all it was ever meant to be, so it is a success.
I might even find the inspiration to post more than once a week… but don’t count on it.
The Beginning of a Bad Idea
A friend of mine has be bugging me for a while to be able to post things on to my little blog. Every feeling, every fiber and every faculty of my being is warning me that this is a very bad idea. This is why I’ve decided to do it.
I’ve got to make a few changes to the templates and so on, but you can expect to see his first posting soon. I’ll leave the introductions to him.
I’m not going to censor his posts, and as a result I should remind everyone that this blog is unrated, so don’t always expect to see G rated material.
