Revenue streams be the death of us all

The big companies are once again stupidly trying to make money out of the Internet, free services are being closed down or at least scalled down, with the previously free optinos available if your willing to pay for them. With the end of the free era of the net, so goes the good karma, advertising and mindspace these companies had been enjoying.
Take something as simple as your email address.
Are you still using the same address you had when you first dialed-up?
Are you still usig the same ISP?
Perhaps at some point you thought to get a hotmail account, or some such other free mail so that it didn’t matter if you changes ISP, people would still be able to get in touch.
Only thing is the assumptions made. At any time Microsoft may decided to shut hotmail down, and they aren’t going to ask for your permission to do it.
Recently I’ve seen a lot of people getting very sick of the unrealiablity of the big companies, and their ISP.
The answer is simple, and not that expensive, buy your own domain name, and create some email addresses there. Then you can take it with you where ever you go, you and you alone control the address.
The rest of the net can go get fucked, cause I’m taking my own bit back.

God vs. the Loch Ness Monster

The chaps over at The Philosphers Magazine have some interesting things to say on the subject of Nessy and God which I disagree with.
Either there is a serious flaw in their logic. Or they are unable to follow the logic of my belief system. I’m not sure which.
But apparently from all logic points of view God and the Loch Ness Monster are equals. Strange then that I’ve not hear the theory of Nessy creating the universe one afternoon.
Nessy

If, despite years of trying, no strong evidence or argument has been presented to show that there is a Loch Ness monster, it is rational to believe that such a monster does not exist.

God

As long as there are no compelling arguments or evidence that show that God does not exist, atheism is a matter of faith, not rationality.

The big problem I have with this is the nature of God and the nature of Nessy.
IF Nessy does indeed exist, it is agreed that she is some sort of giant lizard type creature, that is limited by the same rules of nature that we (humans) are, logic, chemistry, physics, the lot. Therefore we must be able to find her eventually.
IF God does indeed exist, it is agreed that she is not a giant lizard type creature, and is not limited by any laws of the universe that we know of or any of the laws of the universe that we haven’t yet discovered. Therefore we may never be able to find her, not matter how hard we look.

I live!

According to Staying Alive I did survive via psychological reductionism.
It doesn’t surprise me at all that this is the answer I got. My thoughts on the matter are simple… how can I be considered still alive if I don’t remember it. Sure this gets blurry when loss of memory is unavoidable, but what ya gonna do?

TWRIABP (Ep: 53)

In todays episode of “The Web Really Is A Bizarre Place” we find that a Google search for the phrase “Dave Golding” turns up The Blog of Craneligh in second place… and Dave’s own home page is nowhere to be seen, also we learn that Janet and Sam have more going on than even they know about, and Spooky the Dog saves the day (again).
Roll credits.

We know who you are!

For a while now we have been tracking who it is that actually reads this site. And in our scanning of the logs we’ve come across some interesting stuff. But none more than this, someone out there in the big bad world someone thought “Hey, this blog is just to darned easy to understand, I’ll just use the Powers-Of-The-Internet ™ to make if more of a challenge”, and so this poor soul reads my site as translated into Pikachize. Check it out.

Whilst we’re talking about our beloved readers I should mention that we are now up to a total of 4 (four) regular readers (no, not counting ourselves). We welcome Alan to the fold, yet we still wonder what it is that actually makes you people keep coming back. None the less we are strangely happy.
